card rankings in video poker

Video Poker hands work mostly the same way as in traditional Poker. The card rankings in Video Poker are the different combinations of cards that will grant a prize to the player. These Video Poker hands vary in hierarchy and the player has different Video Poker odds and probabilities of hitting them.

In this section you will find the various combinations and hand rankings for Video Poker games. The examples below can be found on every Jacks or Better game. Other Video Poker games may have different amounts of wins for each card combination. For instance, Double Bonus Poker offers larger pays for certain four of a kinds, and Deuces Wild has wins for a wild royal and four deuces, but card rankings always remain the same.

From top to botton, these are the card rankings in any Video Poker game:

 

Royal Flush: This is the best possible hand in Video Poker. It is formed by a Ten, Jack, Queen, King and Ace of the same suit.
 
Straight Flush: The hand of five consecutive cards of the same suit, for example, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9.
 
Four of a kind: Any sequence of four cards of the same value in a Video Poker game.

Full House: A Video Poker hand of three cards of a kind and one pair. For instance, having three sevens and two aces.
 
Flush:  Any five non consecutive cards of the same suit.

Straight: The Video Poker hand consisting of five consecutive cards of mixed suits.
 
Three of a Kind: The hand of three cards of the same value with two other cards of different value.
 
Two Pair: Two sets of two cards of the same value in a Video Poker game.

Jacks or Better: The lowest paying hand in a Video Poker game. It consists of any single pair of cards with  jacks or a higher card. For example J's, Q's, K's or A's.
